Our Approach

Jonathan Heeringa B. Sc. Founder and Principal Advisor

GreyLane Estate Services was born from something personal-five years of sitting alongside executors, powers of attorney, and families navigating some of the most intimate and complex moments of their lives. Those experiences made one thing clear: people in these moments deserve more than a transaction. They deserve a trusted guide. The values that shape how we show up-discipline, integrity, and composure—weren’t learned in a classroom. They were forged through military service and three decades of working alongside business owners, real estate investors, and families building something that matters. Along the way, we’ve found that the most meaningful results don’t come from credentials alone. They come from genuine relationships and the willingness to show up honestly, even when the path forward isn’t simple.

Jonathan holds a B.Sc. in Financial Management and experience spanning banking, M&A advisory, credit union leadership, real estate, and mortgage brokerage — a breadth of perspective that informs every engagement. But what drives GreyLane isn’t a résumé. It’s a belief that every family, every estate, and every legacy deserves thoughtful, experienced guidance — whether that journey leads to us or simply starts with an honest conversation about what’s right for you.

Thoughtful guidance for families navigating estate transitions

At GreyLane Estate Services, we know that estate decisions often come during moments of change, uncertainty, or loss. What you’re managing isn’t just paperwork or property; it’s a lifetime of memories, responsibilities, and family considerations.

Our role is to walk alongside you with patience and care, helping you make sense of the process and move forward at a pace that feels right. We believe every estate deserves to be handled thoughtfully, with respect for both the people involved and the legacy being left behind.

Our Team

To deliver on that commitment, GreyLane has assembled a multi-disciplinary team with deep experience across real estate, personal and estate finance, insurance, and financial advisory. Most bring 15+ years in their respective fields — having worked with families, business owners, or executors navigating every complexity an estate can present, from family dynamics and business interests to the physical care and preparation of a home. When you work with GreyLane, you work with professionals who have navigated these situations before – and know what to do when situations get complicated.

Advocacy & Support, Centered on You

You remain in control every step of the way. Our job is to provide clear information, thoughtful recommendations, and steady support so you can make informed decisions with confidence.

We work collaboratively with your attorneys, accountants, and other trusted advisors, ensuring everyone stays aligned while keeping your goals and responsibilities front and center.

We are guided by a few simple principles that shape how we work with every family.

Empathy

We listen first. Every situation is different, and we take the time to understand what matters most to you and your family.

Integrity

We focus on what serves the estate’s best interests – never on pressure or hidden agendas.

Follow-Through

Estate transitions involve many moving parts. We help manage the details so nothing feels overwhelming or overlooked.

Why GreyLane

What became clear over time was that too many families fall through the gap between institutional estate management and no support at all. Large estate service providers are typically structured for high-complexity, high-value estates and priced accordingly. The average family – reluctant to absorb the cost of institutional estate management – is left with little more than a checklist. We work with the estates that most advisors see as too small, but we feel strongly that every family deserves the same quality of guidance regardless of the size of the assets involved. That is what GreyLane was built to provide.

Trust, Transparency, and Respect

Trust is essential in this work. We handle sensitive situations with discretion, honesty, and care, always mindful of family dynamics and emotional considerations.

Our recommendations are grounded in facts, not assumptions. We communicate openly about costs, timing, and options so there are no surprises along the way.

Our Mission

We are not a platform or a document service; we are a seasoned team that manages the most difficult financial and logistical transitions so you can focus on your family. We will help the process move faster, end sooner, and leave you with the confidence that you did right by the people and the legacy you were trusted to protect.

Protecting Value with Care

We help safeguard the estate’s value while honoring your fiduciary responsibilities. Through careful planning and market-informed decisions, we support outcomes that serve the estate and its beneficiaries responsibly.

Everything we do is designed to bring clarity, never pressure, and to help you move forward knowing decisions were made thoughtfully and with intention.

A Steady Presence When You Need It

Many families tell us they simply needed someone to help organize the process and carry some of the weight. We take that role seriously.

By handling research, coordination, and administrative details, we allow you the space to focus on the decisions that truly matter, for you and your family.
